เป็นเส้นใยสังเคราะห์ที่ผลิตจากโพลียูรีเทน มีคุณสมบัติพิเศษคือมีความยืดหยุ่นสูง สามารถยืดได้มากถึง 5 เท่าจากขนาดเดิม และคืนตัวกลับสู่สภาพเดิมได้โดยไม่เสียรูปทรง ผ้าสแปนเด็กซ์มีชื่อเรียกอื่น ๆ เช่น ไลคร่า (Lycra) อีลาสเตน (Elastane) เป็นต้น
